Brief Description

CAMS is seeking a dynamic Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager to lead regulatory compliance and industrial safety at our Devon Power Plant and remote sites in Connecticut. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role is pivotal in driving a strong safety culture, maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, and leading continuous improvement in EHS performance.

About the Role

The Devon Power Plant consists of eight (8) GE LM6000 combustion turbines and one (1) Pratt & Whitney FT4 located in Milford, CT. CT Jet Power consists of eight (8) Pratt & Whitney FT4 combustion turbines located on 4 Connecticut sites and based in Middletown, CT.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state (including CTDEEP), and local environmental regulations and permits.

  • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.

  • Manage stormwater and wastewater sampling, RATA and stack testing, and air quality programs.

  • Lead NetDAHS/StackVision data oversight and support NPDES discharge compliance.

  • Implement and maintain site-wide health and safety programs aligned with OSHA and corporate standards.

  • Conduct safety training, audits, and incident investigations.

  • Coordinate annual respiratory and hearing testing.

  • Promote a culture of accountability and proactive risk mitigation.

  • Train and develop staff and contractors on EHS responsibilities.

  • Manage EHS vendors and contractors.

  • Support or act as the Facility Security Officer (FSO).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • At least 5 years of EHS experience in power generation, heavy industrial, or utility sectors.

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, CT environmental regulations, and safety management systems.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety documentation systems.

  • Ability to wear PPE as required including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective footwear, fall protection, and respirator.

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, walk distances on uneven/loose surfaces, bend, kneel, and squat.

  • Regular travel between sites in Connecticut, with occasional domestic travel for training and meetings.

Preferred Credentials

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CHMM, EIT, or PE.

  • Experience with StackVision, SharePoint, and NERC/NERC CIP.

  • Familiarity with marine terminal operations, MARSEC compliance, or FSO designation.

  • Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals or American Board of Industrial Hygiene.

Summary

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
