About the Role

As an Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator, you will report to the Director of Safety & Compliance and are responsible for administering the respective entity’s environmental, health, and safety programs and driving improved results. You will have primary responsibility for manufacturing and distribution EHS compliance and work closely with local production management. Successful candidates will be responsible for both strategic and tactical elements of the company’s environmental, health, and safety program.

Responsibilities

• Continual Improvement: Champion regulatory compliance policy and program implementation. Collaborate with local management and Corporate Safety to develop programs to reduce incidents and drive a culture of safe behavior.
• Safety:
  • Conduct basic investigations; coordinate with Corporate Safety on higher-level issues.
  • Oversee and drive employee safety compliance at the local level.
  • Maintain liaison with outside organizations (e.g., fire departments, mutual aid societies, rescue teams) to ensure information exchange and mutual assistance.
  • Communicate, track, and report EHS KPIs.
  • Implement EHS audits/inspections, including conducting, tracking, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate online and/or in-person EHS training for line-level employees and local leaders.
  • Chair the local safety committee, meeting monthly to review incidents, near misses, and other safety metrics.
  • Routinely meet with the Director of Safety & Compliance to discuss objectives, strategies, and plans for safety improvements, issues, and results.
  • Assist with other manufacturing facilities’ safety programs as needed.
• Environmental:
  • Identify chemical inventory on-site and compare levels to regulated action levels.
  • Ensure appropriate disposition of all waste material.
  • Establish and maintain required Environmental recordkeeping and reporting processes.
  • Establish and manage waste minimization and emergency response planning.
  • Respond to upset conditions and advise team members on corrective actions.
  • Serve as the point of contact for chemical inventory and waste management processes.
  • Develop and implement Environmental management systems for applicable plant activities.
  • Implement required Environmental training programs.
  • Handle facility Environmental permitting and compliance activities.
  • Train or arrange training for appropriate personnel on Environmental policies/programs.
  • Maintain compliance in a changing regulatory and growing business environment.
  • Develop a chemical disposal plan for the location(s).
• Automobile Program (if Applicable):
  • Identify opportunities and programs to reduce auto-related incidents.
  • Evaluate prior years’ incidents and current trends; provide action plans for improvement and track to completion.
  • Communicate monthly KPIs.

Requirements

• BS/BA in a related field, preferred.
• Ability to work independently or within a team.
• Must be able to influence without direct authority.
• Committed to customer satisfaction and ability to adapt/respond to different personalities.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Intermediate computer skills, including experience with Microsoft programs and email communication.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
• Willingness to travel minimally to U.S. and Canadian production facilities.
• Environmental, Health, and Safety Degree, preferred.
• Minimum of one year of compliance experience, preferred.
• Minimum of one year of related experience in a manufacturing, construction, or chemical environment, preferred.
