About the role

Barr is seeking an environmental field technician to join our Salt Lake City, Utah office. In this role, you will support the Assessment and Remediation business unit and undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the investigation, evaluation, and remediation of contaminated sites.

Responsibilities

  • Apply foundational environmental principles to plan and carry out site investigations;
  • Collect and document high-quality soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and vapor samples;
  • Operate and calibrate field instruments;
  • Follow SOPs, QA/QC protocols, and health-and-safety plans;
  • Compile, validate, and summarize field and laboratory results;
  • Prepare logs, figures, and tables;
  • Aid in data interpretation;
  • Produce clear field notes, chain-of-custody and data summaries, figures, and draft report sections/emails for review;
  • Provide concise status updates to project managers and stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to align technical work with project objectives while fostering strong, productive working relationships.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate (two-year) or technical (four-year) degree in environmental sciences or related discipline;
  • Software: Strong computer skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Driver’s license: Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Pay

Ancillary to the hourly rate, employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.

This position is classified as non-exempt (hourly) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
