The Environmental Field Scientist supports environmental remediation and site assessment projects in NYC, with a primary focus on Community Air Monitoring Program (CAMP) oversight, field monitoring, site documentation, and regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for conducting air monitoring, maintaining daily field reports, managing manifests, collecting environmental samples, and ensuring remediation activities are performed in accordance with NYSDEC, NYCOER, and project-specific requirements. Working closely with project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies, the Field Scientist plays a critical role in protecting public health and supporting the successful execution of environmental cleanup and brownfield redevelopment projects. Responsibilities Perform environmental field oversight on remediation and construction projects throughout NYC.Prepare and maintain Community Air Monitoring Program (CAMP) documentation and ensure compliance with NYSDEC regulations.Manage and track waste disposal documentation, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste manifests.Complete daily field reports documenting site activities, contractor progress, environmental observations, and regulatory compliance.Collect environmental samples including soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and air samples.Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and regulatory agencies to ensure projects remain compliant and on schedule.Support projects operating under NYCOER, Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP), petroleum remediation, and site redevelopment requirements. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.At least 2 years of experience in the environmental field, including construction oversight, community air monitoring (CAMP), soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and related site activities.Demonstrated experience preparing and writing daily reportsExperience in environmental remediation, including soil, groundwater, and soil vapor investigations and remedial activities.Hands-on experience with site assessment, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and soil vapor sampling.Valid OSHA 40 HAZWOPER certification.Possession of an SST (Site Safety Training) card. Work Environment 100% on-site field work typically follows earlier hours, around 6:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
