Job Summary
The Environmental Field Specialist will support Georgia Power in meeting compliance obligations and preparing for future needs through environmental compliance programs. They will provide support for the Environmental Management System (EMS) and Environmental Management Information System (EMIS), Enablon, and will assist with training, communications, and guidance.
Job Requirements
- BS or BA degree in a science-related field or equivalent work experience
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in environmental compliance, environmental project management, power generation, transmission and/or distribution operations, emergency response and planning, and compliance with relevant regulations
- Commitment to ethics, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Strong judgment and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Experience with training, communications, and guidance on new or existing processes
- Experience with various technologies and database systems like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Enablon, etc.
- Commitment to safety and health
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple assignments
- Ability to work independently and in a flexible schedule
Major Job Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal customers and peers
- Provide training and support for EMS and EMIS, Enablon
- Identify and communicate best practices for continuous improvement
- Lead new site pilots and support throughout site adoption process of EMIS
- Provide risk identification and continuous improvement loops through programmatic reviews
- Obtain and maintain necessary certifications (e.g., waste, DOT, RCRA, HAZWOPER)
- Act as a credible and knowledgeable spokesperson on environmental affairs
- Support as primary contact in a defined region and backup other field specialists

Required
- One year of verifiable driving experience
- No revocation of driving privileges within 36 months prior to application
- No convictions of major traffic violations within 12 months prior to application
- Consent to Motor Vehicle Driver’s Record Monitoring via GPC Fleet Management
