Environmental Fate Staff Scientist

This role is based at the EAS Easton, MD laboratory—the largest in the network—where over 100 scientists support biological, toxicology, chemistry, and environmental fate contract research for North America. You’ll join a diverse team delivering high-quality research to key markets. Easton is a historic small town on the Chesapeake Bay, offering a high quality of life with easy access to Washington, DC, Baltimore, and Annapolis.

Responsibilities

• Designs and supervises simple and complex experiments and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements (e.g., DEA, EPA, FDA, FIFRA, OECD).
• Develops procedures and methods to solve technical problems.
• Serves as a technical expert for staff and external customers.
• Performs advanced troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment.
• Conducts studies to determine the persistence and behavior of chemicals in the environment.
• Performs complex data evaluations, reviews the work of others, and writes technical reports and standard operating procedures.
• May serve as a primary business contact for clients.
• Works on multiple projects concurrently and may direct activities of other staff in their area of expertise.
• May serve as a Study Director for one or more projects, ensuring GLP compliance.
• Collaborates with scientists and colleagues to prepare technical papers and reports.
• Conducts training for staff on laboratory techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience in an environmental fate laboratory.
• A Master’s degree in a relevant field and three years of directly relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree and experience.
• GLP study director or project management experience preferred.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
