Corteva Agriscience is seeking an Environmental Fate Scientist to join the Predictive Safety Center (PSC) within Global Regulatory Sciences in Indianapolis, IN. This site-dedicated role focuses on conducting environmental fate (Efate) studies and developing new laboratory assays for crop protection active ingredients.
Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, evaluate, and summarize laboratory environmental fate studies for new active compound screening and characterization in Discovery stages.
- Direct laboratory technicians and contractors in study conduct and data collection.
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external partners to explore and implement new predictive approaches (e.g., in silico and in vitro studies).
- Provide mentorship and training to new or inexperienced team members while promoting a collaborative team environment.
- Comply with laboratory safety procedures, Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for radioactive materials, and other study-specific regulatory requirements.
- Utilize organizational networking to influence decision-making.
- Research and evaluate novel approaches, instrumentation, and technology to improve Efate assays.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field with emphasis in analytical or environmental chemistry.
- 3+ years of laboratory research experience in environmental chemistry or a related field.
- Experience using liquid chromatography and other analytical techniques is preferred.
- Relevant laboratory experience in environmental fate or a related field, with agrochemical industry experience preferred.
- Proficiency in common bench chemistry procedures and equipment.
- Comfortable working with carbon-14 radioactive substances while adhering to safety procedures.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines for concurrent projects.
- Adept at working effectively in a team environment, contributing ideas, and receiving feedback.
- Excellent scientific communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
