Environmental Engineering Technician 1

Description Duties

• Investigates and examines the evidence of real property locations in the field
• Researches records relating to ownership and location of real property
• Performs calculations for horizontal and vertical control
• Drafts and prepares CAD maps for administrative and acquisition surveys
• Checks work of consultant surveyors
• Prepares and checks legal descriptions
• Operates modern terrestrial, geodetic surveying and geographic positioning systems instruments
• Follows field procedures and work zone safety

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; geology or geology technology; or as a surveyor or a drafter
• OR graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience
• OR graduation from a high school technical education program in aeronautics, architectural drafting, chemistry, electricity, electronics, mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry
• OR 18 college semester credit hours in any combination of the following: engineering, geology, environmental science, natural or physical science, drafting, mathematics, or surveying

Additional Comments: This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2027, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Travel may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
