About the role

S&ME is seeking an eager and hard-working Engineer to join our Environmental team in Huntsville, Alabama. The ideal candidate will be at the forefront of projects that shape safer, cleaner communities, balancing hands-on fieldwork with impactful office-based analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Field Leadership - Take charge of soil and groundwater sampling, oversee drilling operations, and guide monitoring well installations to ensure accurate, high-quality data collection.
  • Data & Reporting - Transform environmental data into clear insights by preparing technical reports and regulatory documentation that drive informed decisions.
  • Project Collaboration - Partner with colleagues to plan and execute site investigations and remediation efforts, maintaining strict quality standards and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Client Engagement - Build strong relationships by communicating findings and project updates effectively to clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Proposal & Scheduling - Contribute to winning new work by drafting proposals, while keeping projects on track through schedule management and deadline monitoring.
  • Financial Insight - Support business growth by evaluating project budgets and assisting with strategic business development initiatives.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional environmental engineering experience
  • Successful completion of the FE exam
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and on track to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Excellent business development abilities and existing client relationships in the local market are preferred
