About the role

The Environmental Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring environmental compliance and supporting the manufacturing processes at Dauch's Gallatin plant in Gallatin, TN.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain adherence to safety, environmental, quality and sustainability standards and enforce policies and regulations.
  • Provide environmental engineering and technical support to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Lead the environmental efforts for the Gallatin TN facility.
  • Identify and resolve environmental issues that may arise.
  • Communicate with environmental agency personnel regarding construction and operating permit issues.
  • Support the negotiation of potential compliance issues and enforcement actions.
  • Obtain and maintain current knowledge of all environmental regulations and compliance reporting.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure regulatory compliance with government agencies, ISO14001, and company requirements.
  • Focus on incident prevention and safety through best practices.
  • Develop, monitor, and assess plant environmental metrics.
  • Maintain hazardous waste program by annually taking a hazardous waste management training through a third party service.
  • Train employees dealing with hazardous waste and submit annual training for all other indirect personnel.
  • Handle the coordination of hazardous waste disposal and manage cleanup efforts of spills, maintaining all required legal documents.
  • Review and maintain all environmental permits, files, and documents.
  • Request quotes, seek purchase approval, and lead plant projects related to required environmental equipment and training activities.
  • Aid Plant Management in maintaining a positive relationship with the local community regarding environmental compliance.
  • Ensure emergency response plans are implemented and aligned with local regulatory, regional, divisional, and corporate requirements.
  • Serve as the company representative during any agency inspections of facilities and primary contact for environmental consultants and vendors.
  • Train full-time employees, contractors, and agency employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related Engineering field.
  • 3-5 years environmental responsibilities, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge and experience with environmental permitting and recordkeeping.
  • Knowledge of ISO14001; OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related environmental regulations.
