About the role
The Environmental Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring environmental compliance and supporting the manufacturing processes at Dauch's Gallatin plant in Gallatin, TN.
Responsibilities
- Maintain adherence to safety, environmental, quality and sustainability standards and enforce policies and regulations.
- Provide environmental engineering and technical support to ensure environmental compliance.
- Lead the environmental efforts for the Gallatin TN facility.
- Identify and resolve environmental issues that may arise.
- Communicate with environmental agency personnel regarding construction and operating permit issues.
- Support the negotiation of potential compliance issues and enforcement actions.
- Obtain and maintain current knowledge of all environmental regulations and compliance reporting.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure regulatory compliance with government agencies, ISO14001, and company requirements.
- Focus on incident prevention and safety through best practices.
- Develop, monitor, and assess plant environmental metrics.
- Maintain hazardous waste program by annually taking a hazardous waste management training through a third party service.
- Train employees dealing with hazardous waste and submit annual training for all other indirect personnel.
- Handle the coordination of hazardous waste disposal and manage cleanup efforts of spills, maintaining all required legal documents.
- Review and maintain all environmental permits, files, and documents.
- Request quotes, seek purchase approval, and lead plant projects related to required environmental equipment and training activities.
- Aid Plant Management in maintaining a positive relationship with the local community regarding environmental compliance.
- Ensure emergency response plans are implemented and aligned with local regulatory, regional, divisional, and corporate requirements.
- Serve as the company representative during any agency inspections of facilities and primary contact for environmental consultants and vendors.
- Train full-time employees, contractors, and agency employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related Engineering field.
- 3-5 years environmental responsibilities, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge and experience with environmental permitting and recordkeeping.
- Knowledge of ISO14001; OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related environmental regulations.
