About the role

With general direction, you will create engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, and solid waste facilities. This role involves ensuring designs meet client requirements and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review draft designs and reports for regulatory compliance and sign off on completed designs.
  • Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
  • Perform site reviews and studies to align designs with location specifications.
  • Update design requirements as necessary.
  • Conduct water quality analyses and modeling.
  • Contribute to the firm’s technical knowledge management (TKM) by developing white papers and technical design documentation.
  • Submit technical papers and designs for publishing in technical journals.
  • Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to RFPs.
  • Review draft proposals for adherence to regulations and best practices.
  • Meet with current and potential clients to discuss their design needs.
  • Attend conferences and symposia to enhance the firm’s visibility.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.
  • Mentor junior staff and support their growth within the firm.
  • May supervise the work of junior engineers on projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Expert knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required (10% or less). Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Pay

Pay range: $87,131 – $152,485 USD. Compensation is determined by role, experience, skills, certifications, education, and geographic location. Bonuses are discretionary and may apply to this position.
