Environmental Consultant – Senior Level – Mining Focus (Hybrid)
About the role
Barr is seeking a highly experienced senior environmental consultant with a strong mining focus.
Responsibilities
- Assisting clients with permitting, environmental regulatory compliance, and related technical assignments.
- Collaborating with clients to identify and address environmental issues, including regulatory applicability determinations, preparing compliance plans and reports, developing permitting applications, and performing technical and economic feasibility studies.
- Sustain and grow relationships with existing mining clients through successful project execution and consultative engagement.
- Leading and managing highly collaborative project teams and developing internal team members.
- Participating in meetings and negotiations with clients and regulatory agency personnel.
- Engaging in business development activities, including the development of proposals, scopes of work, and appropriate budgets.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mining, civil, or environmental engineering, geology, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 15 or more years of experience directly related to the mining industry, including environmental review, permitting, and reclamation.
- Recent environmental consulting experience.
- Relevant skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and direct multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven consulting environment; strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and consultatively with clients, regulators, and project teams; proven skills in negotiation, problem-solving, project organization, and producing high-quality deliverables; track record of meeting deadlines, fulfilling commitments, and mentoring staff.

Pay
Anticipated salary range of $120,000 to $170,000 annually. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
Schedule
Hybrid: a hybrid arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office; a remote arrangement refers to working primarily from a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Reno, Nevada, office or Salt Lake City, Utah, office.
Travel expectation: up to 25% of the time, may vary depending on client needs.
Work environment: projects may require time on site at industrial and mining facilities. Some locations include rough terrain, limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of construction or industrial sites. Work may involve waste disposal sites or locations requiring hazardous materials cleanup. As needed, safety training will be provided, and an OSHA-mandated physical exam (HAZWOPER) or MSHA training may be required.
