Agency: The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) is seeking an Environmental Compliance Regulatory Specialist in the Conservation Division, District #1 office in Dodge City, Kansas. The KCC regulates public utilities, motor carriers, oil and gas pipelines, and oil and gas natural production. The Commission’s headquarters is in Topeka, with the central Conservation office in Wichita and four district offices located in Dodge City, Wichita, Chanute, and Hays.

About the Role

This position performs regulatory and enforcement duties in the Dodge City District office, covering Edwards, Pawnee, and Stafford counties. The incumbent will also assist in other counties in southwest Kansas as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Execute regulatory and enforcement duties, including lease inspections, complaints, well pluggings, alternate II cementing, MIT and productivity tests, and spill remediation.
  • Prepare technical reports and assist in determining responsible parties for Conservation Division hearings.
  • Provide expert testimony as needed.

Requirements

  • Two years of field experience in oil or gas production or service-related work. College coursework in hydrology, geology, petroleum engineering, or a related field may substitute for experience at 6 months per year of college.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a business environment, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain working relationships with agency personnel, industry partners, the public, and state/federal officials.
  • Independent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking to handle varied responsibilities, including decision-making while working independently.
  • Proficiency in preparing reports and self-motivation to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • General knowledge of operations management, oilfield operations and terminology, Division rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.

A Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is required for employment, per Executive Order 2004-03. Pay

$52,000 - $56,000 annually. Salary may vary based on education, experience, or qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time, regular position. Work schedule: Monday - Friday.
