Environmental Compliance/Regulatory Specialist, Chanute

Location: Neosho County, Chanute, Kansas

About the Role

This position performs regulatory and enforcement duties in the Chanute District office. The incumbent will execute responsibilities and complete technical reports including lease inspections, complaints, well pluggings, alternate II cementing, MIT and productivity tests, and spill remediation. The role involves assisting in the determination of responsible parties, preparing materials for Conservation Division hearings, and providing expert testimony as needed. Work is primarily field-based within the 32 counties of District #3, often exposed to the elements.

Responsibilities

• Perform regulatory and enforcement duties related to oil and gas production.
• Conduct lease inspections, investigate complaints, and oversee well pluggings.
• Execute alternate II cementing, MIT and productivity tests, and spill remediation.
• Assist in determining responsible parties for regulatory actions.
• Prepare materials and provide expert testimony for Conservation Division hearings.
• Work independently in the field across 32 counties in District #3.

Requirements

• Two years of field experience in oil or gas production or service-related work.
• College coursework in hydrology, geology, petroleum engineering, or a related field may substitute for experience at 6 months per year of college.
• Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required (applicants selected must apply within 10 days of offer).

Pay

$52,000 - $56,000 annually, depending on education, experience, or qualifications.
