Environmental Compliance Manager

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental consultants performing permitting and regulatory compliance work.
  • Review environmental, health, and safety (EHS) surveys and technical documentation supporting Class II and Class VI injection well permits.
  • Cookordinate permitting activities for injection wells, pipelines, facilities, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and implement permitting strategies that align with project schedules and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local environmental regulations affecting energy and carbon capture projects.
  • Coordinate baseline environmental studies, including air, water, wetlands, and other environmental assessments.
  • Prepare, review, and support regulatory applications, permit submissions, notifications, and compliance reports.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, consultants, and project teams.
  • Support environmental audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inspections.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and regulatory updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure consultants meet project deliverables, schedules, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement of environmental compliance programs and permitting processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Natural Resources, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5–10 years of environmental compliance, permitting, or regulatory experience within the oil and gas, energy, or environmental industries.
  • Experience managing third-party consultants or contractors.
  • Experience supporting oil and gas permitting projects; carbon capture and sequestration (CCUS) experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Underground Injection Control (UIC) Class II and Class VI permitting processes preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations, particularly in Texas and Louisiana.
  • Experience with pipeline permitting and environmental permitting for industrial projects is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance programs, permitting processes, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard business applications.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS) projects.
  • Experience preparing or supporting UIC Class II and Class VI permit applications.
  • Experience with carbon dioxide (CO2) pipeline permitting or linear infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of air quality permitting, greenhouse gas reporting, emissions compliance, hazardous materials regulations, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Familiarity with environmental auditing, sustainability reporting, and regulatory compliance management systems.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies in Texas and Louisiana.
  • Three or more years of third-party consultant or project management experience.
