Environmental Compliance and Sustainability Advisor

Provides support to the organization’s manufacturing sites by partnering with operations teams to maintain environmental compliance, advance sustainability initiatives, and manage chemical programs. This role focuses on guidance, coaching, and collaboration to ensure sites understand and meet regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement in waste, water, emissions, and energy performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain environmental programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and ISO-14001 certification pertaining to company operations.
  • Promote consistency and standardization of environmental compliance processes across all manufacturing locations.
  • Support the development and adoption of standard audit tools, checklists, and environmental controls.
  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing sites to support environmental permit requirements, including air, water, waste, and stormwater obligations.
  • Assist manufacturing sites in preparing environmental reports and documentation related to air emissions, waste management, stormwater, wastewater, chemical inventories, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support sites during environmental inspections and audits—helping prepare, participating, and guiding follow-up actions.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess potential impacts on organizational operations and compliance strategies.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's sustainability strategy, roadmap, and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed sustainability into operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Manage sustainability and ESG performance metrics, including data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Complete customer sustainability and ESG surveys, disclosures, and supplier assessments.
  • Identify opportunities for improved environmental performance, waste reduction, emissions reduction, and resource efficiency.
  • Oversee corporate chemical management programs, including chemical approvals, inventory controls, and regulatory compliance (e.g., TSCA, REACH, PFAS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in environmental compliance roles, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to environmental reporting or audits.
  • Experience with implementation of ISO 14001 or other management systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to push/pull objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 50% of the time.
