Environmental Attendant Lead
About the role
As an Environmental Service Technician with Corewell Health, you will directly impact patient care by cleaning and disinfecting assigned work areas, removing medical waste, trash, and linens, and maintaining floors, carpets, and upholstery. Collaboration with team members ensures continuity of service and fosters a positive work environment. No prior experience is required—full training and support are provided, offering opportunities to grow and develop new skills.
Responsibilities
- Assign and adjust work schedules as needed.
- Coordinate and inspect employee work assignments; complete quality assurance inspections.
- Provide ongoing instruction to Environmental Services employees according to department standards.
- Communicate and collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure service continuity.
- Clean and maintain equipment used in duties and store it properly.
- Act on behalf of leadership to resolve work-related issues or escalate them as needed.
- Assume ownership of daily operations and initiatives.
- May be required to work across department sites for coverage or business needs.
- Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk mitigation; complete safety-related competencies on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1 year of recent experience in public service, customer service, or related fields (e.g., hotel, hospital, environmental services, or janitorial).
- Knowledge of housekeeping materials, supplies, and equipment to ensure a safe work environment.
- Ability to train others in housekeeping, sanitation, and safety.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Self-directed with the ability to make quality, independent decisions.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, high volumes, and multiple interruptions.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Competency in using various computer hardware and software systems.
- Ability to resolve employee and customer relation issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of leadership experience.
- CRT-Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) certification from the Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE).

Schedule
Part-time position with variable hours. Scheduled hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with variable weekends.
