About the role
To aid in the operation and maintenance of pollution control equipment to meet environmental standards and production requirements.
Responsibilities
- Aids in repairs to WESP pump, cleans tubes and nozzles
- Aids in maintaining RTO in good working order—bake outs, valve cleaning, and bearing replacement
- Responsible for cleaning and maintaining WESP equipment and building
- Aids in the washout of the RTOs
- Replaces bags, performs leak checks, maintains magnehelic gauge
- Performs visual emissions readings using EPA Method 9 standards during bakeouts or upset conditions and records results
- Aids in maintaining and auditing the opacity monitors
- Applies caustic to maintain a neutral pH in WESP system and monitors daily
- Participates in environmental improvement projects at the mill
- Participates as needed when emission testing is conducted at the mill
- Participates as needed in environmental training at the mill
- Performs all duties according to safety rules and regulations
- Performs other duties as necessary
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- 1–2 years’ experience in equipment operation, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position
Skills
- Knowledge of complex equipment operation
- Knowledge of general equipment maintenance
- EPA Method 9 certification
- Forklift/manlift certification
- Knowledge of company air use permit requirements
- Knowledge of general environmental laws and terminology
- Time management skills
- Demonstrated mechanical ability
- Ability to accurately use basic math skills
- Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations
Work Environment
Plant environment with exposure to sawdust, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and other inclement conditions.
