About the Role
As our EHS Professional, you will implement and manage health and safety programs in our chemical manufacturing facilities in Tennessee and Louisiana. This position is based at the Palm Commodities International, LLC facility in LaVergne, Tennessee and will also support a facility in Port Allen, Louisiana. Some travel will be required. Pre-employment drug testing is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead monthly site safety training and facilitate all annual safety meetings.
- Manage industrial hygiene and biomonitoring testing programs and ensure appropriate protection measures are in place to maintain exposure limits below defined levels.
- Identify and manage PPE equipment and programs.
- Create and deliver new employee and contractor safety training and orientations.
- Manage job safety analyses, hazard assessments, and participate in occupational and process safety incident reviews, including leading and assisting with investigations.
- Manage the Risk Awareness Program and cultivate a strong culture focused on safety.
- Manage and implement Lock Out/Tag Out, Hot Work, Confined Space, and Fall Protection programs, activities, and compliance verifications.
- Develop, implement, and monitor leading safety indicators.
- Implement, support, and manage Group EHS standards and programs.
- Maintain working relationships with governmental agencies and ensure all safety-related inspections reflect compliance with applicable requirements.
- Report KPI and maintain EHS dashboards.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or science field (Environmental Sciences preferred).
- 5 years' hands-on experience with safety.
- At least 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience providing employee training and making presentations.
- Preferred certifications: Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, and/or Safety Management Specialist.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.
- Team-building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
