A day in the life

As a Software Engineer on this team, you must be skilled and self-motivated to develop cutting-edge geospatial analysis, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), and visualization microservices to support mission-focused systems. You will design, implement, and maintain scalable and performant Java-based microservices that interact with both relational and NoSQL databases. Your work will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of our geospatial data processing and visualization tools, enabling better decision-making for mission-critical applications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand requirements.
  • Design and develop Java microservices with a focus on geospatial data processing, visualization and analysis.
  • Implement and maintain scalable and high-performance solutions.
  • Work with external APIs and libraries to integrate geospatial functionality into services.

What you bring to the table

  • A Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Four (4) additional years of experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience working with Java.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and design principles.
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases and their interactions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with geospatial libraries and tools (ie GDAL, GeoTools)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Exposure to containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (eg Git)

Salary Range: Disclosed pay ranges are a general guideline, and are not a guarantee of a final salary or compensation. Our approach in determining final salaries takes into consideration a number of factors such as education, certifications, total years of relevant professional experience, actual level of expertise, and the responsibilities of the role itself. Based on the outlined roles, responsibilities, and requirements, the projected pay range for this position is: $85,000 - $175,000.
