Responsibilities
- Aiding the design team in preparing roadway drainage and stormwater designs.
- Conducting hydrology and hydraulics design calculations and analyzing existing projects.
- Collaborating with multiple utility owners, MDOT, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
- Creating or modifying reports, specifications, plans, studies, permits, and designs for projects.
- Carrying out design computations and preparing cost estimates for projects.
- Supporting quantity take-offs and cost estimates for projects.
- Making occasional travel as part of the job.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil engineering or a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within six months of hire date if not already an EIT.
- Relevant coursework in transportation and/or hydrology and hydraulics.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, contours, and drafting.
- Experience in civil engineering internships.
- Experience with utility coordination and design.
- Experience with municipal engineering design.
