Underwriting Activities
- Reviews submissions, endorsement requests, and renewals for acceptability before quoting.
- Follows up with agents for additional information as necessary.
- Determines proper risk classification and uses company software to rate risks.
- Selects appropriate coverage structures for risks, including endorsements and exclusions, and develops proposed ratings.
- Makes underwriting decisions on routine risks and refers complex cases to appropriate resources.
Quoting
- Prepares and delivers quotes to agents within underwriting authority or with proper referral underwriting approval.
- Resolves outstanding concerns with agents and answers questions.
- Negotiates changes to quotes as appropriate.
- Explains commercial coverage to agents and brokers.

Quality Control and Review
- Performs quality control inspections of system-bound policies, endorsements, and renewals.
- Reviews applications, agency correspondence, and other underwriting information to reconcile discrepancies and ensure accurate information.
- Verifies proper rating classifications and codes of bound policies using various sources.
- Handles problems and takes appropriate action on unusual discrepancies.
- Initiates policy changes and takes underwriting actions within underwriting authority, including cancellations or non-renewals.
Third Party Data
- Utilizes third-party tools, data, and services to support better underwriting decisions.
- Improves accuracy of rating/exposure information.
- Produces better underwriting results.
Quality Assurance and Testing
- Participates in testing of rating, quoting, policy administration, and other software as required.
- Completes assigned test cases within designated time frames.
- Identifies potential problems and notifies testing coordinators.
