Entry-Level Structural Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer in the Greater Pennsylvania area to join the AECOM Transportation Department in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and strengthen analytical and design skills.
• Assist with engineering design tasks under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Prepare designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematics, and final working drawings.
• Collect, organize, and analyze data to support engineering decisions.
• Utilize engineering software to solve basic technical problems.
• Contribute to project work while adhering to established budgets and schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field.
• Preferred Qualifications: Academic track with structural engineering concentration is highly desirable. Relevant internship experience in the execution of structural design projects is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
• Some production software experience including but not limited to: MicroStation, AutoCAD, MS Office, Bluebeam is highly desirable.
• Some structural analysis software experience including but not limited to: STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, and LUSAS is a plus.
• Basic familiarity and working knowledge of relevant building codes and standards including AASHTO, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318, ACI 530, NDS, etc.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Master of Science in Structural Engineering or related field is a plus.

Benefits

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Hybrid work schedule available, with required on-site work at the Mechanicsburg, PA office. A full-time in-office schedule is also an option. The selected candidate must be available to work in Mechanicsburg, PA on a scheduled basis.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $75000 to $85000 per year.
