About the role

Full-time opportunity for an Entry-Level Staff Engineer with a career path to Project Manager. The candidate will work on public and private complex projects involving inspections and testing of construction materials in the field (quality control) across Certerra’s Southwest Division offices.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project designers and clients to ensure client specifications are followed.
  • Perform routine to complex inspections and testing of construction materials in the field.
  • Prepare daily reports on observation activities.
  • Conduct geotechnical lab and field testing.
  • Review observation and test data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with proposal scoping, estimating, and preparation.
  • Track project budgets and prepare invoicing.
  • Assist with training, supervision, and mentoring of junior staff as needed.
  • Perform field inspections and testing as required.

Requirements

  • 4-year Civil Engineering degree (required).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving history (required).
  • EIT level accreditation (preferred).
  • Knowledge of construction materials testing and observation (preferred).
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications (preferred).
  • Experience with IBC Special Inspections (preferred).
  • Experience on small to large complex construction and/or heavy highway projects (preferred).

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive).

Physical Demands

  • Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work (report from medical professional).
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and routinely lift and carry 30 pounds.
  • Clean driving record and capability to be insured for driving company vehicles.
