About the role

Unified Fire Authority is offering Entry Level Paramedic positions through a Paramedic Only hiring process. The process includes registration, written pharmaceuticals & EMS skills assessment, oral board interview, firefighter physical agility test, background check, psychological exam, medical physical/drug screening, and recruit camp. Key dates: registration Sep 14–Oct 13, 2026; assessments Oct 19–23, 2026; background investigations Oct–Nov 2026; final job offers Dec 2026–Jan 2027; new‑hire orientation Jan 5, 2027; 4‑week orientation begins Feb 1, 2027; recruit camp anticipated to start Feb 1, 2027. Requirements

• At least 18 years of age by the written test date (October 2026).
• Valid driver’s license in good standing at time of employment.
• Utah Paramedic License or National Registry Paramedic certification, plus BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification at time of application; Utah paramedic license required before a final job offer.
• Ability to pass the paramedic skills assessment (per NREMT guidelines).
• Ability to pass the Firefighter Physical Agility Test (cut‑off time ≥13:00 minutes) and be in good physical condition; must sign a release of liability.
• Willingness to undergo reference check, background investigation, psychological exam, medical physical, drug screening (NFPA‑1582 standards).

Skills

• Paramedic clinical skills and knowledge (as assessed in the written pharmaceuticals & EMS skills assessment).
• Firefighter physical agility (lifting, carrying, pulling, climbing).
• Effective communication (oral board interview).
• Ability to follow procedures and work as part of a fire‑rescue team.
