About the Role

Boeing St. Louis is building the future—creating innovative solutions that will define the next generation of aerospace. We are seeking Entry Level or Associate Mechanical System Design Engineers to develop, maintain, and modify air vehicle subsystems (Armament, Crew Systems, Environmental Cooling, Equipment, Fuel, Hydraulics, Landing Gear, Mechanisms, and Thermodynamic) and component designs. This role involves using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and other methods to provide product definition to engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. These positions support current and emerging aircraft programs within the Air Dominance division of Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) and are located in the Greater St. Louis region.

Responsibilities

Level 1

  • Assist with documentation of air vehicle subsystems requirements to establish the system design.
  • Assist with development, maintenance, and modification of air vehicle subsystems and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and other methods.
  • Assist with tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Assist with management of supplier development, test, and production activities to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Work under close supervision.

Level 2

  • Assist in developing, integrating, and documenting air vehicle subsystems requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develop, maintain, and modify basic air vehicle subsystems and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and other methods.
  • Perform tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Assist with supplier development, test, and production activities and coordinate with suppliers to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Support investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs.
  • Work under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences).
  • Level 2: 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • Experience using NX / Teamcenter and familiarity with reading 2-D drawings.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post-start is required.
  • Some positions may require the ability to obtain Special Program Access (U.S. Citizenship only).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical Design experience on military or commercial aircraft.
  • An active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months.
  • Experience working with aircraft fluid systems design and components, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, sensors, and controls.
  • Experience with component requirement specifications and managing supplier development activities.
  • Experience with thermal analysis tools such as ANSYS Thermal Desktop.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation software such as Matlab, Simulink, Simcenter Amesim, and Flomaster.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Systems of Systems Architect.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with agile planning and execution.
  • Experience in developing solutions to complex technical problems requiring ingenuity and innovation.

Pay

Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.

  • Level 1: $71,400 - $96,600
  • Level 2: $85,000 - $115,000

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
