Job Description
This is an engineering position with the Core Thermal Design unit within NNL Submarine Programs. Our engineering team works in designing, manufacturing, and deploying the reactor core for the new COLUMBIA Class submarine with a focus on thermal performance and reactor hydraulics. Our work includes computer simulation, materials evaluation, design reviews, operations support, safety analyses as well as assessment of manufacturing procedures and systems. This work is challenging and requires developing improvements in both thermal hydraulic methods and design procedures to benefit COLUMBIA and future submarine classes.
Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field.
- Preferred Skills:
- Coursework/background in heat transfer, fluid flow, and basic nuclear engineering
- Coursework/experience working with computer simulations
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- Experience working on technical teams

Pay Range
$63,900.00 - $97,800.00 annually

Responsibilities
To be successful, we work closely with other groups on the design team, core manufacturing, and both materials and fluids technology development groups.
Qualifications
All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
Skills
All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707. Marijuana is a Federal Schedule I controlled substance and illegal under Federal Law. Therefore, FMP is required to test for marijuana.
