Radiological Engineer 1 (Entry-Level) - Nuclear
About the role
We are seeking a skilled nuclear/radiological engineer to join our multi-discipline engineering project teams. The ideal candidate will work on upgrades and modifications to existing nuclear power plants, focusing on radiological dose calculations, shielding design calculations, and radiation source term calculations. Additionally, there is potential for travel to support international projects.
Responsibilities
- Work with multi-discipline engineering project teams engaged in the design and engineering of upgrades and modifications to existing nuclear power plants.
- Perform radiological dose calculations, shielding design calculations, and radiation source term calculations.
- Collaborate on both domestic and international nuclear power plant projects.
- Potential travel to support projects.
Qualifications
- A BS or MS in Nuclear Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience with MCNP, RADTRAD, MicroShield, ORIGEN, ARCON96, AI, and automation tools is preferred.
- Programming or scripting skills (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued but not required.
Skills
Willingness or ability to solve engineering problems using modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs. Ability to build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools, with strong engineering judgment and verification of results.
