Entry Level Mechanical Engineer
About the Role
At Strategic Mission Critical (SMC), we specialize in engineering mission-critical facilities, focusing on precision and expertise. As demand for high-performance infrastructure grows, driven by AI and digital expansion, we lead through technical rigor and operational excellence. We’re seeking an Entry Level Mechanical Engineer/Designer to execute mechanical design for mission-critical projects, including data center facilities, fit-out packages, campus planning, and feasibility studies. This role involves working within a broader mechanical team, interfacing with multidisciplinary design leads, and contributing to robust, reliable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Utilize Autodesk Revit to produce detailed design documents.
- Assist with performing airside and hydronic calculations for multiple mechanical systems.
- Develop hydronic and airflow diagrams.
- Learn to select and specify HVAC equipment.
- Meet project deadlines, including working necessary hours for major deliverables.
- Review and understand local and national construction codes and project specifications.
- Use Microsoft tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) effectively.
- Travel to project sites as required (less than 10%).
- Communicate clearly with coworkers, clients, and senior personnel.
- Work independently while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate actively in training and mentoring opportunities.
- Maintain excellent organizational skills and manage multiple tasks.
Qualifications
- 2 or 4-year degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology (preferred).
- HVAC construction experience with a drafting certification will be considered.
- Past internship, co-op, or work experience in consulting engineering (a plus).
- Experience in the construction industry (a plus).
- Proficiency in Revit (educational or professional experience preferred).
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (a plus).
Pay
Base Compensation: $45,000–$150,000 (varies based on education, experience, skills, and location).
