Entry Level Mechanical Engineer

About the Role
This is an entry-level product design and development position focused on designing and providing manufacturing support for highly sophisticated and reliable communications infrastructure products for professional and mission-critical markets. Engineers in this role will primarily function as mechanical engineers within large or complex team projects, as well as contribute individually to smaller tasks. The position also supports method and process improvements or maintenance of existing product lines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare concept and prototype designs of mechanical systems, including hands-on design and analysis of individual parts and components, ensuring they meet customer requirements, reliability, robustness, manufacturing processes, and safety guidelines.
- Model complex component and assembly designs using advanced 3D CAD tools, and interpret and generate 2D drawings per mechanical drafting standards.
- Design and conduct experiments using statistical tools and techniques to confirm analyses and evaluate new or existing designs for conformance to product specifications.
- Analyze tolerances and their effects on design.
- Collaborate with suppliers and commodity teams to meet cost and lead-time goals for tooling and piece parts.
- Set up and maintain bills of materials and release mechanical prints.
- Perform mechanical verification tests per product specifications and write test reports.
- Support factory quality and process issues, providing feedback to resolve them.
- Support prototype and pilot builds.
- Develop intellectual property for the corporation.
Skills
- Hands-on experience with 3D modeling and surfacing software, such as Creo Parametric (Pro/Engineer) or equivalent, for designing components and assemblies.
- Familiarity with the design and manufacturing of parts including die casting, machining, sheet metal and stampings, plastic injection molding, compression molded rubber, connectors, cables, and printed circuit board assemblies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform hand calculations or FEA for stress and thermal analysis.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural and heat transfer applications is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with test equipment such as thermal imaging, thermal scanners, airflow analysis, and strain gauge tools.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with engineers across mechanical and other disciplines (e.g., electrical engineering, procurement, manufacturing).
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to generate concise and comprehensive design and test reports.
- Ability to summarize complex technical concepts clearly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field OR 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely (employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position).
Travel requirements: Under 10%.
Pay
Target base salary range: $73,800 - $107,600 USD. Pay within this range varies based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
