Entry Level-Materials Testing Technician-Sidney, ME

About the role

We have an immediate opening for a full time, Entry Level, Materials Testing Technician to be based at our Sidney, Maine office and work on construction projects throughout Central Maine. To thrive in this role you will not need experience - we will train you and pay you while you learn.

Schedule

• Typically Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work based on project needs
• Some early mornings and late evenings with regular overtime during the construction season

Responsibilities

• Drive to construction sites and perform field tests on materials like concrete, soil, aggregate, asphalt, grout, mortar, and steel
• Often be the only S.W.COLE team member on job sites but interact with many people from other companies
• Lift and carry samples of various construction materials including soil and concrete, walk through construction sites, or push a wheelbarrow
• Complete this type of work year-round
• Conduct yourself and the equipment safely at all times
• Perform basic math and write or type your observations and test results
• Regularly utilize a computer or tablet
• Learn to read and understand design plans and specifications
• Work in our laboratory or train for more certifications when not in the field

Qualifications

• No experience needed - we will train you and pay you while you learn
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer (we are not able to sponsor employment Visas at this time)

Skills

• Ability to do basic math
• Ability to write or type observations and test results clearly
• Comfort with regular use of a computer or tablet
• Physical ability to lift and carry samples, walk through construction sites, and push a wheelbarrow
