About the Role

The Manager Trainee is a full-time, entry-level position designed to prepare you for a leadership role within 84 Lumber. This role offers hands-on training across all aspects of store operations, with the goal of promotion to a management position within 6–12 months. Promotions can lead to up to a 40% increase in annual pay, and many trainees progress to General Manager roles within 3–4 years. Relocation may be required for management positions.

No prior experience is required—just dedication and a willingness to learn. Trainees must complete a structured learning plan, including classroom, online, and hands-on training.

Responsibilities

• Support customers and drive sales in a retail store environment.
• Oversee store operations, including material/supply chain flow, stock, and merchandising.
• Read blueprints and create material estimates for building projects.
• Operate forklifts and handle materials safely (certification provided).
• Manage payroll, invoicing, inventory, and financial analysis.
• Use Microsoft Office Suite (training provided; prior experience preferred).
• Interpret and analyze common financial reports.
• Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Availability for a full-time schedule (48+ hours/week, including overtime).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role involves working in both indoor and outdoor settings, assisting customers in all weather conditions (wet, humid, hot, or cold). Frequent standing, walking, and lifting (up to 80 pounds) are required. You may also work around machinery and airborne particles.

Pay

$45,000–$50,000 per year, based on hourly wages, overtime, and monthly incentives.
