Entry Level Logistics Specialist

This is a Contract to Hire position.
About the role
We are looking for an Entry Level Logistics Specialist to join our team. This role supports the coordination of domestic and international shipping activities, ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment. You will manage inventory control, prepare and review shipping documentation, assist with freight quotes and claims handling, contribute to quality control of outgoing shipments, and support warehouse efficiency and receiving operations in a collaborative, professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the coordination of manufacturing and order fulfillment schedules to ensure on-time shipment of customer orders.
- Process customer orders for domestic and international shipments, including generating all required documentation such as import/export forms, bills of lading, and related paperwork.
- Provide timely support to the sales team by responding to logistics inquiries and offering shipment status updates and options.
- Conduct monthly and annual inventory counts and reconciliations to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Negotiate pricing and delivery times with vendors and carriers to secure cost-effective and reliable transportation solutions.
- Review purchase orders for accuracy and consistency with sales orders, identifying and resolving discrepancies before shipment.
- Inspect outgoing shipments for quality and accuracy, documenting findings and ensuring compliance with quality control standards.
- Support the implementation of warehouse efficiency initiatives, including improvements in workflow, documentation, and inventory handling.
- Assist with receiving raw materials, including verifying quantities, inspecting for accuracy, and updating inventory systems.
- Prepare freight quotes and support claims handling processes to address shipping issues or discrepancies.
- Use SAP and other systems to enter, update, and maintain accurate logistics, inventory, and shipment data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management required.
- 1-3 years of Supply Chain experience required.
- Experience with a large ERP system preferred.
- Proficiency within Microsoft Excel.
Work Environment
The role is part of a small, close-knit team of approximately eight people, including leadership, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. You will work closely with the logistics manager and other team members in a professional industrial setting. The environment emphasizes strong teamwork, friendly co-workers, and open communication. Work is primarily office and warehouse-based, using systems such as SAP and standard logistics and inventory tools.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $25.48/hr ($50,000 - $53,000 annually).
