Entry Level HVAC/R Tech
Filtrex is a nationwide company searching for skilled technicians to perform thorough preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) equipment across various facilities.
About the role
Perform standard preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with manufacturer’s standards, including filter changes, minor equipment adjustments, belt replacement/adjustment, coil cleaning, evaporator and condensing coil cleaning, ice machine cleaning, and condensate pan maintenance. Conduct visual and auditory inspections to assess equipment function, identify potential issues, and recommend actions to prevent failures and minimize downtime. Complete digital documentation and photo logs of all work via a mobile app.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and clean all types of HVAC/R equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance per manufacturer guidelines.
- Adjust, repair, or replace components such as belts, coils, and condensate pans.
- Clean ice machines and other specialized equipment.
- Document work, take photos, and complete forms using a mobile app.
- Assess equipment condition and provide recommendations to prevent failures.
- Maintain security and accountability for equipment and facility access.
- Comply with all health, safety, and OSHA regulations.
Schedule
Technicians travel for three weeks per month, working six days per week, with one full week off at home. Most holidays are spent at home. Up to 20 hours of overtime is required weekly.
Working conditions
- Exposure to noisy mechanical rooms, extreme weather, precarious locations, and unpleasant odors.
- Work in wet, damp, dimly lit, or confined spaces (e.g., ceiling plenums, equipment enclosures).
- Frequent physical demands: walking, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and lifting up to 10 lbs regularly, with occasional lifts of 50–100 lbs.
- Use of hands, fingers, and power tools for grasping, pushing, and pulling.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of HVAC experience.
- Ice machine experience preferred.
- 3-year clean driving record.
- EPA and OSHA 10 licenses preferred.
- Technologically savvy (smartphone proficiency for digital communication/documentation).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Pass a background check.
