Entry Level Electrical Designer
About the role
The Electrical Engineer/Designer at Salas O’Brien designs electrical systems for various facility types including high-rise buildings, data centers, multifamily, retail/mixed-use spaces, and commercial spaces. Responsibilities include designing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems, producing electrical design drawings using Revit software, performing field investigations, ensuring quality control, scheduling, and programming of deliverables, coordinating with MEP teams, conducting load calculations, equipment sizing, and short-circuit analysis.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Experience: Previous intern experience is preferred but not required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) is preferred. Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including circuit design, signal processing, and power distribution, is necessary. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential. Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment is important. Strong verbal and written communication skills for design and specifications are required. Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and contractors is crucial.
