Entry Level Design Technician – Electric Utilities

About the role

We’re seeking a motivated Design Technician to join our growing team in-office in West Palm Beach, FL. If you’re passionate about electric utility design and enjoy hands-on work, this is your chance to play a key role in exciting infrastructure projects while working closely with a supportive and experienced team.

Responsibilities

• Complete design tasks for associated utility design projects, including drafting, engineering calculations, easement validation, design/construction cost estimating, and permit package development.
• Manage multiple projects to ensure timely, successful completion, achieving high levels of customer satisfaction and meeting departmental goals.
• Learn and incorporate company safety rules, design standards, and governing authority regulations into daily work and designs.
• Address conductivity issues identified in client's support database and related systems according to engineering guidelines.
• Prepare checklists and other paperwork required for engineering package delivery to clients according to engineering guidelines.
• Liaise with engineers, supervisors, and drafters to ensure adherence to client specifications.
• Draft final design work prints using specified applications, encode or assign work steps for construction and financial records according to client specifications.
• Prepare permit drawings, utilize existing project specifications to produce acceptable engineering designs, and make design-related decisions to respond to operational demands and client needs.
• Complete required project status forms and timesheets in a timely manner.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 1-2 years of general construction or utility experience preferred.
• A High School Diploma required.
• A Technical certificate in drafting or other technical skill preferred.
• Basic design skills required; experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS is a plus.
