Training pay: $250 per day (bi-weekly pay). Training period: 8–12 weeks. Schedule: Mondays–Fridays (Saturdays as needed), starting between 3–5 AM.

About the Role

This is an entry-level driver training position. The trainee learns to drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and/or interstate routes—local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, or overnight—to deliver and unload food and related products. The role emphasizes safe operation in compliance with company policies and DOT regulations, professional customer interactions, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and complete PFG Entry-Level Driver Trainee or Dock-to-Driver Training Program; maintain all required training documentation.
  • Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries, following all instructions and directions.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations and company safety standards; report any safety issues or needed repairs.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines; report safety hazards immediately.
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; verify item counts and customer invoices.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Move tractor to loading dock, attach preloaded trailer, and drive to customer locations according to the delivery schedule.
  • Unload products from trailer, transport items into customer storage areas, and perform damage control checks; scan and report damaged items per company policy.
  • Verify delivery with customer and obtain signatures; collect payment (cash or checks) where required.
  • Load customer returns onto trailer, secure trailer doors, and ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked/secured at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns at driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload equipment/materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Record hours of service and maintain logs in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
  • Secure all equipment and complete end-of-shift paperwork.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Internal PFG candidates: 1 year of service in good standing, ability to attain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card.
  • 0–6 months commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL A.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Pass post-offer drug test and road test.
  • Attain or hold a valid current DOT Health Card.
  • Able to hand-lift and use equipment (two-wheeler, lift gate, etc.) to move and stack product cases/freight (60–90 pounds) throughout shift.

Pay

$250 per day during training.
