Entry-Level Auto Technician
About the role
We’re looking for Automotive Mechanics with a minimum of 6 months of professional automotive repair experience to join Carvana, the fastest-growing used automotive retailer in U.S. history and one of the four fastest companies to make the Fortune 500. As an Entry-Level Technician, you’ll perform light maintenance, fluid checks, and/or conduct the initial inspection on our vehicles to identify any imperfections or repairs needed throughout the reconditioning process.
At Carvana, you’ll work in one of our high-tech Inspection Centers using state-of-the-art tools. If you’re joining us in an entry-level position, we offer training programs to ensure your skills and pay progress along with the company.
Responsibilities
- Perform light maintenance and fluid checks
- Conduct initial inspections on vehicles to identify imperfections or needed repairs
We have a variety of Technician roles in our Inspection Centers, depending on your level of experience:
- Entry-Level Auto Technician (min 6 months professional experience): Perform light maintenance, fluid checks, and/or conduct the initial inspection on vehicles.
- Brake and Tire Technician (min 1 year professional experience): Perform light maintenance or repairs, including changing brakes and tires.
- Mid-Level (Mechanical Repair / Build / General) Technician (min 3 years professional experience): Perform light to medium automotive repairs and minimal diagnostics.
- Experienced Technician (min 5 years professional experience): Perform extensive repairs, heavy engine work, and advanced vehicle diagnostics on all makes and models, including electric and hybrid vehicles.
We also offer roles in other automotive areas across our 18 locations:
- Auto Body roles: Paint, Prep/Body work, Wheel Repair, Airbrush, Interior Repair, Glass Repair, and PDR (Paintless Dent Repair).
- Auto Technician/Mechanic roles: Lube and Oil, Inspection, Brake and Tire, Mechanical Repair / Build, and Master Technician.
- Entry-Level roles: Detailing, Inventory Associate (Car Porters), Photo, Parts Associate, Inspection, and Coordinator/Administrator.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 months of professional automotive repair experience (for Entry-Level Auto Technician role)
- Ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools; must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license; some positions may require a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing production environment, sometimes exposed to excessive weather conditions (heat/cold)
- Use of safety equipment, including but not limited to face shields or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, masks, and other protective garments and equipment
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

Pay
Starting pay: $18 - $20 per hour
