About the role
The Mascot Performer at SV is responsible for portraying a character to support the park's events. They are expected to adhere to dialogue and prop usage as directed, continuously engage with the audience, and participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Portraying character to support the tie into the park.
- Adhering to dialogue and prop usage as directed.
- Continuously focusing energy to provide fresh appearances.
- Focusing connectivity with the audience while in costume.
- Being quick and accurate with creativity and judgment calls.
- Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established SVAP policies, procedures, and training.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- To perform the role of the Mascot Performer successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Consistent attendance is a job requirement.
- A high school degree or GED is preferred.
- Performing experience is preferred.
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, or hear.
- Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
- Sometimes required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and support this weight on the neck and shoulders.
- Must have the ability to work with limited visibility, movement and within the confines of character costume which can weigh as much as 20-50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather).
- Occasional exposure to extreme cold (non-weather).
- Frequent exposure to noise levels in the work environment.
- Regular exposure to tight, dark spaces.
