Enterprise Security Design Director

Piper Companies is seeking an Enterprise Security Design Director to join a leading healthcare technology organization based in Columbia, Maryland. This hands-on cybersecurity leader will be responsible for enterprise security architecture, security design reviews, cloud security strategy, incident response, and risk-based vulnerability management across a complex hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the enterprise security architecture roadmap aligned with business and technology objectives.
• Lead security-by-design initiatives across cloud, infrastructure, applications, and data environments.
• Conduct security architecture reviews, risk assessments, and threat modeling for strategic projects and major technology initiatives.
• Drive a risk-based vulnerability management program, prioritizing remediation based on business impact, threat intelligence, and real-world risk.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Cloud, Engineering, DevOps, and IT teams to design, implement, and enhance enterprise security controls and technologies.
• Lead incident response investigations, support security operations, and provide executive-level risk reporting and recommendations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience.
• 5+ years leading enterprise security architecture, security engineering, or cybersecurity programs.
• Strong experience securing hybrid environments across Azure, on-premises infrastructure, and SaaS platforms.
• Deep expertise in enterprise security architecture, security design reviews, security strategy, and risk management.
• Hands-on experience with risk-based vulnerability management, penetration testing oversight, and remediation programs.
• Proven incident response experience with the ability to investigate, contain, and remediate cybersecurity incidents.
• Experience with Microsoft security technologies including Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, and Purview.
• Required certifications: CISSP, Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500), and GCIH.

Pay

Salary range: $170,000 - $190,000 (depending on experience).
