Full-time

About the Programme

Palladium is seeking an expression of interest for the Enterprise Level Business Developer for the upcoming Boost Africa Technical Facility Phase 2, an EIB‑led facility focused on strengthening Africa’s early‑stage investment ecosystem. The TAF focuses particularly on delivering TA to VC fund managers (e.g., fund structuring, portfolio management, fundraising) and their investee companies (governance, business strategy, fundraising). Phase 2 builds on Phase 1 of the programme, which delivered TA to 5 fund managers and 20 of their investee companies, supporting EUR 80 million in direct investment by the EIB and mobilising a further EUR 400 million. The programme is expected to be delivered over four years from late 2026 onwards.

Purpose of the Role

The Enterprise Level Business Developer will ensure the quality and relevancy of Boost TA services for portfolio enterprises; act as a resource and mentor for portfolio entrepreneurs, supporting business growth, investment readiness, and operational strengthening across the Boost Africa portfolio.

  • Fluency in English and good working knowledge of French
  • 10 years international experience required, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa
  • 5 years in the area of investing, organizational development, research, private sector/business development, business growth strategies, preferably with similar projects
  • 5 years professional experience in working with and/or managing IFI/donor (e.g. EIB, EBRD, WB, AFDB, AFD, EC, etc.) financed TA development projects
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in advising start-ups and/or SMEs for business development as well as working with business consultants providing capacity building services

Additional Information

  • Expected ~50% level of effort
  • Headline locations (Accra, Lagos and Nairobi) are indicative only
  • The geographic focus of the Boost Africa investment program is Sub-Saharan Africa excluding South Africa, with a prioritization on West and Central Africa
  • The applicant should be based locally in these regions of Africa and demonstrate ready access to these markets
  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; encourage early application as the position may close once a suitable candidate is found

Note: These positions are for a potential future EIB opportunity, not a current vacancy. The role is indicative and subject to change based on the final programme guidelines being published. This role is dependent on i) Palladium being awarded the Boost Africa Phase 2 tender, ii) entering a contract with EIB for the delivery of the programme, and iii) approval from EIB at the contracting stage.
