About the role
AFCENT’s mission is to deliver combat-ready air, space, communications, and cyberspace capability for USCENTCOM, helping maintain security and stability throughout Southwest Asia. We support the AFCENT Commander, USCENTCOM, coalition and joint partners, and warfighters who rely on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, partner networks, and other command-and-control systems. The AFCENT NOSC program focuses on running and protecting a 24/7 enterprise network and systems operations, including cybersecurity, engineering, maintenance, and technical support, keeping AFCENT’s theater communications and IT infrastructure ready, secure, and available.
SMS specializes in modernizing legacy IT and sustaining complex enterprise environments for federal agencies. Headquartered in McLean, Virginia, SMS operates at customer locations throughout the United States.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 administrative support for local and deployed users.
- Monitor for and distribute written notifications of authorized service interruptions, notices to airmen (NOTAMs), and communication tasking orders (CTOs) via existing software tools.
- Review and correct document formatting; provide corrective guidance regarding requirements adherence.
- Track acknowledgement and compliance of customer sites with distributed administrative documents.
- Provide updates to the customer regarding status changes of existing ASIs.
- Produce and compile customer site information daily for leadership briefings.
- Manage customer access to document tracking tools.
- Provide training to contractor and military personnel.
- Support creation of daily AFCENT communication status report as required.
- Maintain Heads-Up Display (HUD) tickets to coordinate with sites and track unscheduled outages at the site level.
- Provide general networking support, LAN support, and WAN Enterprise support.
- Provide technical and general O&M support as required.
- Provide documentation and reports support as required.
- Provide meetings and briefings support as required.
- Provide functional training support as required.
- Provide OCONUS deployment/TDY travel support as required.
- Provide CONUS TDY support as required.
Requirements
- 3 or more years’ relevant experience.
- LAN and WAN Enterprise support experience.
- Experience with Microsoft server installation, roles, Active Directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance.
Qualifications
- ITIL Foundation certification (candidate has up to 60 days to acquire).
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance.
