Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for enterprise data governance, data quality, and data management practices across assigned data domains.
- Establish, document, and maintain data definitions, data dictionaries, lineage, and metadata standards within the enterprise data catalog.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to identify, assess, and resolve data quality issues; define and monitor data quality rules and metrics.
- Facilitate data governance meetings, working groups, and cross-functional forums; communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with business owners, data consumers, and IT teams to promote data literacy and governance adoption.
- Administer and maintain the enterprise data governance platform (Collibra), including workflows, policies, business glossary, and data classification frameworks.
- Support data stewardship activities including data access management, data issue triage, and escalation processes.
- Partner with data architects, engineers, and analysts to ensure governance principles are embedded in data pipeline and product design.
- Provide guidance and training to business stakeholders on data governance policies, standards, and tools.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the enterprise data governance strategy and operating model.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data management, data governance, data quality, or a related data discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of data management fundamentals: data governance frameworks, metadata management, data quality management, master data management, and data lineage.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage competing priorities, and drive tasks to completion.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; proven track record of building trust and credibility quickly with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Ability to facilitate workshops, working sessions, and governance forums with participants ranging from executives to front-line business users with no technical background.
- Collaborative team player who is equally effective working autonomously or within cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with data governance concepts including data ownership, data classification, data lineage, and data lifecycle management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Collibra Data Intelligence Platform, including configuration of workflows, business glossary, data catalog, and policy management.
- Collibra certification (Data Steward, Data Engineer, or equivalent) is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK or other recognized data management frameworks.
- Experience working in public sector, regulated industries, or large enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and their governance implications.
- Experience with modern data platforms (cloud data warehouses, data lakes) and related metadata tooling.
- Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies and collaborative tools (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint).
