About the role
The Architect, Finance and Legal Technologies will define and deliver the technology architecture strategy across Finance and Legal functions, enabling data-driven decision-making, automation, and operational excellence. This role will combine deep technical expertise with innovative thinking to modernize and optimize core enterprise systems.
Responsibilities
- Define the target-state architecture for Finance and Legal applications, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and growth objectives.
- Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end architectural solutions for Finance and Legal systems, ensuring integration, scalability, and performance across the enterprise.
- Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap for modernization across ERP, FP&A, Legal, and Sales Compensation systems.
- Ensure systems are designed with identity-first security principles, integrating with Okta and other IAM solutions for authentication, authorization, and compliance.
- Architect and implement AI/ML-driven solutions to optimize finance and legal processes, including predictive forecasting, anomaly detection, spend optimization, contract risk scoring, and intelligent reconciliation.
- Partner with Enterprise AI team to operationalize AI/ML solutions/models within G&A functions, ensuring alignment with business outcomes.
- Ensure seamless data flow across ERP (NetSuite/Oracle), Coupa, Scout, Anaplan, Conga, and Xactly systems using APIs and middleware (Boomi). Define unified data models to support analytics and AI consumption.
- Identify opportunities to embed generative AI, natural language processing (NLP), and large language model (LLM) capabilities into core Finance and Legal processes, including financial reporting, close management, reconciliation, contract lifecycle management, and legal document automation.
- Lead from the front piloting, prototyping, and demoing innovative solutions and newer technologies such as AI and automation.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, IT, Data, Compliance, Security, and Engineering teams to translate business objectives into scalable, secure, and innovative technology solutions aligned with organizational goals.
- Translate complex SaaS financial and legal requirements (e.g., revenue recognition, contract risk management, GDPR) into technical solutions.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on Finance and Legal technology trends such as subscription/usage-based billing, AI contract analytics, and compliance automation.
- Support/Lead implementations/enhancements of ERP systems (Oracle, NetSuite, Coupa, Scout, Anaplan) and legal tools (Conga, DocuSign).
- Establish and champion governance frameworks for data privacy, SOX compliance, and access control across Finance and Legal systems.
- Support roll out of Data Governance across the organization by collaborating with the Data Governance, Businesses, and the Data warehousing teams.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field.
- Experience: 15+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time as an Architect or Principal in ERP Systems (Oracle/Netsuite/SAP), FP&A Systems (Anaplan) and/or CLM systems (Aptus/Conga/IronClad).
- Excellent storytelling and communication skills—comfortable presenting to both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Multiple ERP (Oracle or Netsuite) full cycle implementation experience.
- Deep understanding of the Finance business process areas – Order to Cash, Record to Report, Source to Pay, Plan to Report (FP&A), Treasury, Credit Collection, Revenue Recognition, and Contract Lifecycle Management within Legal Ops.
- Hands-on experience architecting functional and technical solutions within major business applications, with specific expertise in NetSuite (or Oracle), Aptus/Conga (or IronClad), Anaplan, Coupa, Scout, Tax engines such as Avalara, Vertex or OneSource – including understanding their data models and APIs in context of solution development and integrations.
- Architected and delivered AI Agents using leading LLMs (Gemini, OpenAI, or Claude).
- Experience with managing a Software and/or Vendor selection keeping in view the end state architecture of the enterprise.
- Proficient understanding of middlewares such as MuleSoft, Workato, Boomi, or Informatica for connecting Finance, Legal, CRM, and data platforms.
- Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP, with knowledge of data lakes/warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) for SaaS revenue and compliance analytics.
- Knowledge of SSO, OAuth, SAML, SCIM, and Zero Trust principles, with hands-on integration experience in Okta or similar IAM platforms.

Benefits
- Annual base salary range for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area: $236,000—$324,500 USD
- Annual base salary range for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York and Washington: varies based on factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
