Enrolled Nurse (NUH Inpatient)

Responsibilities

80% of the role:

• Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) in admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
• Performs patient care activities, including observing, monitoring, and reporting patients’ conditions and progress; escalates and notifies RN of unusual or untoward observations.
• Prepares trolleys and equipment for ward-based procedures (e.g., blood culture, CVP/PICC, intra-pleural drain, lumbar puncture).
• Provides perioperative care, including preoperative preparation and sending/receiving patients from operating theatres/endoscopy.
• Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including rescue ventilation with a bag-valve-mask device and external cardiac massage.
• Attends to patients’ care needs in activities of living (e.g., bathing, feeding, toileting, skin care, lifting, mobilizing, and transportation).
• Maintains a safe environment through quality assurance and risk management strategies.
• Respects the values, customs, spiritual beliefs, and practices of individuals and groups.
• Practices within own level of competence to promote safety of self and patients.
• Demonstrates proper use and care of equipment.

20% of the role:

• Performs basic computer updates related to patient care.
• Orders sterile (CSSD) goods, receives, and sends used CSSD items.
• Participates in continuing professional development activities to maintain competency.
• Engages in continuous quality improvement activities and research processes.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.

Requirements

• Recognised Enrolled Nurse Certificate or equivalent as approved by the Singapore Nursing Board.
• Licensed as an Enrolled Nurse, adhering to professional accountability in roles, functions, responsibilities, and decision-making capacity.
• Able to perform 3 rotating shifts.
