Enrichment Specialist for Older Adults (Part-Time)

About the role

For over 30 years, Alder has been a trusted guide for more than 5,000 families across Greater Boston, helping them navigate the aging journey with compassion, clarity, and expert care. Our life care managers are seasoned social workers and nurses, providing both strategic direction and hands-on support, from coordinating medical care and assessing home safety to attending appointments and facilitating meaningful family conversations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Programs: Design and facilitate social, educational, and recreational programs tailored to the interests, abilities, and needs of older adults.
  • Engagement and Outreach: Build rapport with older adults and their families to encourage engagement.
  • One-on-One Engagement: Offer individual support and companionship to seniors, helping them connect with what’s important (meaningful) to them and stay mentally and emotionally engaged.
  • Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of participant engagement, preferences, and feedback for reporting purposes and future program improvements.
  • Collaborate: Work with other staff members, caregivers (care partners/family), and volunteers to coordinate and enhance engagement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with older adults, either professionally or through lived experience, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with older adults.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to create and implement engaging, accessible activities that cater to a variety of interests and abilities.
  • Empathy and patience in working with individuals who may have varying cognitive or physical limitations.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise.
  • A passion for community-building and improving the quality of life for older adults.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to travel to community locations - car and good driving record

Work Schedule

Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week (with room to grow)

Pay Range

In accordance with the Massachusetts Pay Transparency Act, the expected pay range for this position is $30–$35 hourly. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as licensure, years of experience, and other relevant qualifications.
