This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and involves supervising a crew on job sites, ensuring safe and efficient work while delivering quality results on time. The Crew Leader is responsible for developing and training crew members, assigning and directing work, and managing small-scale enhancement operations on assigned properties.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct crew members to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
- Operate equipment such as skid steers, excavators, and backhoes.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings.
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks, including spraying weed control and other chemical applications (requires proper licensing).li>
- Store, transport, mix, and apply chemicals in compliance with legal requirements.
- Follow installation instructions and plans in collaboration with the Crew Leader and Operations Manager.
- Assist in loading and unloading equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Comply with equipment preventative maintenance programs and ensure proper storage.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of job sites, vehicles, trailers, warehouses, and offices.
- Report problem areas, equipment or supply issues, accidents, or losses to the supervisor.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements, particularly in handling equipment.
- Ensure quality and timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Participate in required training programs.
- Safely transport crew members to and from job sites using a company vehicle.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Effective communication in English; bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
- Ability to train others and demonstrate leadership skills.
- Dependability, including consistent attendance, punctuality, and commitment to required hours (varies by weather/season).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts calmly.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct a team efficiently.
- Proactive in identifying and supporting team work efforts.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain all landscape maintenance equipment.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of professional landscape maintenance experience.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current State Technician and/or Applicator license preferred but not required.
- General knowledge of irrigation systems, horticultural practices, and maintenance techniques.
Pre-Screen & Certifications
- Upon offer, candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check.
