Enhancement Manager

About the role

Ruppert Landscape is a privately held commercial landscape maintenance and construction company based in Laytonsville, MD. With a multi‑state presence and a small‑company feel, the mission is to provide opportunities for employees, take care of customers, and be good stewards of the environment and community. The Enhancement Manager will oversee production, sales, and customer satisfaction of all branch enhancement projects for the Hilton Head Maintenance team.

Responsibilities

• Communicate company philosophies, policies, and procedures to supervisors and clearly convey the branch’s annual and long‑term goals, motivating staff to exceed expectations and monitoring progress through formal reviews and informal evaluations.
• Develop an understanding of field managers’ strengths, weaknesses, and goals, and actively support their development to meet personnel needs.
• Maintain a constant recruiting effort to address production‑area staffing needs company‑wide.
• Oversee all seasonal color rotations.
• Develop profitable estimates for enhancement work (by hand or computer) to meet sales objectives.
• Prepare job packages and billings for all enhancement jobs sold.
• Understand hourly and cost budgets for each job, regularly review job costs, and communicate cost information to field managers to control hours and expenses.
• Monitor service quality through regular job‑site visits and complete one field/inspection report per quarter for the last three quarters of the year.
• Address any customer concerns within 24 hours.
• Oversee all hard‑material purchases for the branch, coordinate deliveries to the yard, and maintain the enhancement nursery space.
• Schedule enhancement crews, ensure proper staffing, and monitor AM/PM routines.
• Conduct formal certification training and informal training sessions on a regular basis.
• Write purchase orders and approve invoices for all purchases.
• Update the enhancement sales sheet monthly.
• Help maintain a branch facility that reflects the corporate image and provides a safe, comfortable environment for employees and visitors.
• Help maintain branch fleet and equipment to reflect the company image and ensure a safe operating environment.
• Prospect for leads and ensure they are entered into the branch’s prospecting system.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience managing production‑level staff, including recruiting, hiring, evaluating, and training.
• Demonstrated skill in sales and customer service, with a minimum of two years directly dealing with service customers.
• Proven ability to manage production of service work and run multiple projects simultaneously (minimum two years).
• At least one year of experience estimating enhancement‑type work.
• Two‑ or four‑year horticultural or related degree plus two years of industry experience; additional industry experience or certifications may substitute for a degree.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Valid commercial driver’s license with a clean record for the past three years.
