About the role
The Armed Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security of the facilities they protect. Armed Security Officers act as a visible deterrent to crime and client rule infractions; they detect and report suspicious, unsafe or criminal acts at or near their assigned posts which may be a threat to the property, clients, guests or employees at the site. Pays $24.00 Per Hour.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality armed security services, safeguarding personnel, property, and information
- Conduct patrols within and around the facility on foot, bicycle, or vehicle to ensure the protection of people, assets, and sensitive or classified information
- Preserve order and enforce rules, regulations, and directives for the viability of the site
- Maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons
- Greet guests and employees, assisting where appropriate; escort visitors and contractors, secure ingress and egress points, secure classified information
- Follow site-specific performance manuals and post orders, reporting safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances via written and verbal communication; interact with client and/or other security personnel regarding order execution when appropriate
- Respond to and assess security alarms or emergency alarms; act as a first responder in emergency situations and provide first aid as necessary
Qualifications (Must Have)
- Active State Armed Security Level Three Guard License
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current driver's license if driving a company or customer owned vehicle
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
- Level Three New Mexico Guard Card
- Minimum of 21 years of age, or higher as required by applicable law or contractual requirements
- Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
- Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills; able to articulate and write clear and concise incident or situation reports; able to effectively convey information to the public, client representatives, and fellow employees
- Problem solving skills; able to assess and evaluate situations effectively; identify critical issues quickly and accurately
- Attention to detail; able to compile, sort, and interpret data
- Active listening skills; able to mediate conflict with tact, diplomacy
- Able to complete all range qualifications and functions
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice or protective service related field
- Law enforcement experience
- Military experience
- Six (6) or more months of experience as an armed security professional
