English Language Learner Teacher (Ukrainian Preferred)

About the role

Provide resource, diagnostic services, and instruction in English language development for English Language Learner (ELL) students.

Responsibilities

• Effectively implement the course of study that supports the State Standards
• Screen all students entering with other language backgrounds
• Plan and deliver English language development programs for eligible students
• Assess student progress on a regular basis and provide progress reports as needed
• Confer with parents and teachers concerning individual students
• Assist diagnostic teams to help determine the needs of the students
• Consult with classroom teachers regarding curriculum modifications necessary to meet the needs of second language learners
• Maintain records on program students
• Maintain and improve professional competencies by attending workshops and conferences
• Attend staff meetings at building and district level; serve on district committees as needed
• Assist in curriculum planning and instructional delivery as needed
• Provide staff development and parent education based on building and district needs

Requirements

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
• ESL or ENL endorsement or ELS-TBE (K-9)

Qualifications

• Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment and materials
• Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, interpersonal communication skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality, and organization
